Pastor

George Fuller is the founding pastor of New Community Church. He was raised in a military family and lived in 9 states and 2 foreign countries growing up. He loves meeting people and appreciates the differences in perspective people have on life. He has become convinced that relationships are the meaning and measure of life. George began a personal relationship with God in 1972 and has experienced growth in his spiritual life since. He got a BA in philosophy in 1980 and then graduated from seminary in 1983. He finished his doctorate in small groups in 1993 at Drew University in New Jersey. He reads a lot and has hobbies which include fishing, bow hunting, and playing the guitar. The love of his life is his wife Tammy and they have two grown sons, Tripp and Steven.

A passion for helping people build authentic and secure lives with a special place for those who struggle connecting to traditional churches moved him to start New Community Church with 22 other people in 1992. He loves his job and sees it as “getting paid to help people find what they’re looking for.” George believes that New Community will help make northern Wake County a better community. Helping people take the next step in their relationships with God makes the rest of their lives healthier. Learning to love makes this world a better place and God is great at helping us do just that. George does not believe we can experience God as we need to outside of relationships.

Children’s Minister

Jo Anne Jones has been our part-time Children’s Minister since June of 2000. From the beginning of New Community Church in September 1992, she has been a part of the Children’s Ministry by coordinating teachers, helping with events, teaching and serving on the Children’s Council. While a member of Temple Baptist Church (founding church of NCC), she also worked with the Children’s Minister there in the Extended Session Program and taught children in grades four through six on Sunday nights. Being one of six children and the mother of a daughter, she has a love for children and helping them see and feel the love of Christ.
